Ghana international Fatawu Issahaku has expressed his delight after making a successful return from injury, marking his comeback with a brilliant solo goal in Leicester City’s pre-season win over Fiorentina at the King Power Stadium.

The match was Issahaku’s first appearance in front of the Foxes’ home fans since undergoing ACL surgery, and the winger made an immediate impact by finding the back of the net in style.

“Right now I’m feeling good. I’ve got more minutes and I still feel good and no pain in my knee,” Issahaku said after the game. “The goal was something I was waiting for because I’ve been out for so long, and I’m so happy that I came back to King Power with a goal. My comeback is personal because I’ve been through a lot.”

The 20-year-old  had been sidelined for months and worked hard to regain fitness ahead of the new campaign.

Issahaku also spoke about how much he missed playing in front of the club’s supporters and shared his excitement ahead of the new Premier League season, which kicks off next weekend.

“I miss playing at King Power and I miss the fans. It feels good coming back again. We can go more aggressive and more energetic,” he added. “I’m just feeling better and better – can’t wait for next weekend.”

With his return and impressive performance, Issahaku is set to play a key role in Leicester’s plans for the upcoming season.
