Ghanaian football legend Asamoah Gyan has justified his role as chairman of the youth and sports subcommittee for NPP flagbearer Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s 2024 election manifesto.

In the position, Gyan will utilize his wealth of experience in sports to help shape the New Patriotic Party’s policies on developing the sector.

“When I look back at my career, my highs, my low, my failures, and my success, I think I have enough experience and the techniques to contribute in sports,” Gyan said via X.

The former Black Stars captain believes his journey in football spanning over a decade can provide valuable lessons.

“I always ask myself, how do we create change if we don’t want to change? How do spectate without being on the bench and how do we score without being on the field,” he noted.

As the all-time top scorer for Ghana with 51 goals, Gyan is confident his experience can help the next generation of athletes fulfill their potential.

“With collective experiences, we can orient the next generation to do better than what we did. We can give hope where hope is lost and inspire when all hope seems lost,” he added.

Under Gyan’s leadership, the committee will formulate a manifesto to advance sports development across the country.
