Black Stars defender Alexander Djiku has expressed deep gratitude after playing a key role in Ghana’s successful qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will be hosted across the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

The Spartak Moscow centre-back was instrumental throughout the qualifying campaign, helping Ghana bounce back strongly from the disappointment of missing out on the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.

Djiku contributed two crucial goals during the qualifiers, including a decisive strike against Mali and another in the emphatic win over the Central African Republic.

He also delivered a solid defensive display in the final group match against Comoros, where the Black Stars sealed their qualification in style.

Ghana topped Group I with 25 points from ten matches, finishing ahead of all their rivals to book a ticket to North America.

Following the team’s qualification, Djiku took to social media to celebrate the achievement, writing:

“So proud and grateful. We’re going to the 2026 World Cup! Big thank you to everyone who’s been with us from day one. Ghana to the USA… we move together.”

Ghana will discover their group stage opponents when the official World Cup draw takes place in Washington, D.C., on December 5, 2025.
