AFCON 2025: George Afriyie labels qualification struggles a ‘Disaster’
Former Vice President of the Ghana Football Association, George Akwasi Afriyie has revealed it will be difficult for the Black Stars of Ghana to qualify for the AFCON 2025.
Ghana are third in Group F with just 2 points and are on the verge of not qualifying for the AFCON earmarked for Morocco next year.
Ghana would have to beat Angola and Niger and hope Sudan loses to Niger and Angola before Ghana can qualify.
Speaking to Pure Sports, George Afriyie is pessimistic the four-time champions can book a ticket to the AFCON though it is possible.
“It is football, and anything can happen, but for me, it is over for us,” he said. “It’s worrying because the tournament has been expanded, yet we still struggle to qualify. To me, it’s a disaster.” He said.
Ghana will face Angola on 15th November 2024 at the Estádio 11 de Novembro in Luanda before playing the final game against Niger at the Accra sports stadium on 18th November.
