Abdul Fatawu Issahaku scores a stupendous goal to grab Black Meteors a point

Sporting CP youngster, Abdul Fatawu Issahaku inspired Black Meteors to a statement draw to Algeria in the TotalEnergies U-23 African Nations Cup qualifiers at the Stade du 19 Mai 1956 in Annaba on Friday night.

Ghana took the lead in the 83rd minute through number 10 shirted player Fatawu Issahaku but settled for a 1-1 draw at full time.

The visitors commenced game with caution as they got shivered with the Algerians who stood giant’s and a threat at goal. Coach Ibrahim Tanko structured his team close every dangerous attack and by so doing restricted to defending deep in their half.

The hour mark marked without goal yet but Abdul Fatawu Issahaku opened the scoring with what can’t be explained- a long range shot from his half went straight into the roof of the goalpost which could not be dealt by the Algerians goalkeeper as it gave Black Meteors the lead.

Few minutes later, the host levelled scores to settle with a thrilling 1-1 draw.

The return leg is scheduled for Tuesday, March 28, at the Baba Yara Stadium.
