Tanko Ibrahim strengthens Black Meteors team with four other foreign based players

With Ghana scheduled to play Algeria later this month in the final round of qualification, head coach Ibrahim Tanko has invited four foreign based players to join the team.

Tanko and his charges have being in camp, Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence for weeks preparing for the epic encounter.

March 24, 2023 they will travel to Annaba to face Algeria with the return leg set for Kumasi in four days time. In beefing up his squad, he extended invitations to youngster Abdul Fatawu Issahaku who trades his mark with Portuguese side Sporting CP.

FC Nordsjaelland attacker Ernest Nuamah, Emmanuel Yeboah of CFR Cluj and Ibrabim Zubairu of Serbian side FK Jedinstvo Ub have all being called to join the team.

Latest joining is former Accra Hearts of Oak SC attacker Daniel Afriyie Barnieh.

He joined Swiss Super League giants FC Zürich last month and made his debut over the weekend.

Ghana is hoping to secure qualification ahead of Algeria for the upcoming TotalEnergies U-23 Africa Cup of Nations.
The next edition of the tournament, will serves as qualifiers for the 2024 Olympics Games, which will take place in Morocco in June this year. 
The tournament serves as qualifers of African countries for the Olympic football tournament with the top three teams of the tournament qualifying for the 2024 Summer Olympic men’s football tournament in Paris, the fourth place team will play the AFC-CAF playoffs to decide the final slot to the Olympics.
Ghana missed out on the 2020 Summer Olympics Games in Tokyo, Japan after finishing fourth at the 2019 Africa U-23 Cup of Nations in Egypt.

The Black Meteors are yet to secure a ticket to feature at the Olympics Games since 2004 in Athens, Greece.
