REPORTS: Asante Kotoko SC to join King Faisal at Kwame Kyei Sports complex
Following the closed down of the Kumasi Baba Yara Stadium by the Ghana Football Association (GFA), giant’s Asante Kotoko SC will continue their Premier league games at the Abrankese Kwame Kyei Sports complex, Nkrataasem.com understands.
On Wednesday, the Association confirmed the closed down of Baba Yara Sports Stadium for African Cup of Nations qualifiers scheduled for later this month between Ghana and Angola, therefore the need for Asante Kotoko SC to relocate. In a statement, by authorities the closed down is to give managers of the pitch ample time to further improve the quality of pitch for the qualifiers.
Game to be affected will be BetPawa Premier League match week 21 fixture between Asante Kotoko SC and King Faisal FC.
Source close to the club, has disclosed that management of Kotoko led by Nana Yaw Amponsah have shifted their home matches to Kwame Kyei Sports complex in Abrankese, though letter to the Ghana Football Association is yet to approve their request.
Meanwhile, City rivals King Faisal FC are trading their home games at the aforementioned venue after leaving Baba Yara Sports Stadium few weeks ago.
The Porcupine Warriors now sit 2nd on the BetPawa Premier League table following a 1-0 win over Bechem United FC on Wednesday evening.
