Former Ghana Football Association (GFA) Chairman, Dr. Nyaho Nyaho Tamakloe has blasted Ghanaians for using over aged players who failed to impress at the 2022 TotalEnergies African Nations Championship in Algeria.

Ghana after failing to qualify for the CHAN in three consecutive times, thus 2016, 2018 and 2020 finally represented having dished Nigeria and Benin for the ticket.

Housed in Group C alongside Morocco, Sudan and Madagascar the Black Galaxies sailed through with a win plus three points and 3 goals following Morocco absence.

Ghana lost to Madagascar and won Benin 3-1 to settle scores with Niger in the quarterfinals in Oran.

Coach Annor Walker and his charges lost 2-0 in full time after a poor show in both halves.

Board member of Accra Hearts of Oak SC and former GFA boss, Dr. Nyaho Nyaho Tamakloe says 75 per cent of the players that were sent to the tournament were more than 35 years which resulted to their abysmal performance.

According to him, age cheating is the biggest problem of Ghana always assembling over aged players to tournaments.

“If you watch carefully, our players were older than our opponents and I can say with confidence that 75 per cent of our players were more than 35 years old”

“Our biggest problem is age cheating”

“We have been doing that for years and not it is catching up on us”, he told Accra-based media outlet Asempa FM.
