Former Ghana international Charles Taylor wants Black Stars head coach Otto Addo to stand firm and drop uninspiring players from his squad ahead of 2022 FIFA World Cup tournament.

He opined that, some players are currently not in their best of form and should be exempted from the World Cup tournament.

Taylor’s advice is coming on the back of Black Stars international friendly matches against Brazil and Nicaragua. The reality check don on Ghana in both matches despite the West African Country boasting of squad depth.

Coach Otto Addo played a major role in Stephen Ambrosius, Ransford-Yeboah Königsdörffer, Tariq Lamptey and Iñaki Williams switching nationality.

However, the aforementioned players were retired to the bench against Brazil and saw few minutes where Black Stars lost 3-0.

Against Nicaragua, the Black Stars managed to beat Nicaragua 1-0 courtesy Abdul Issahaku Fatawu 35th minute goal.

With 51-days to the Mundial, Charles Taylor wants Coach Otto Addo to assess his team with the two matches and drop some players for a better campaign in their fourth FIFA World Cup tournament.

“The only hope I have in the Black Stars is that, they [Black Stars] are going to play in the World Cup. The entire nation is hopeful that we’re going to the World Cup”

“If per the style and tactics of Otto Addo is anything to go by, then I shouldn’t be the one to spell it out”, he told Adom FM.

“Considering, the quality and quantity within the team after two friendly matches, let’s see if he can be bold to bench some player else I fear it won’t be good for us at the World Cup”

Ghana have been drawn in Group H alongside Portugal, Uruguay and South Korea in the 2022 World Cup.
