Nico Williams: Iñaki is very happy to represent Ghana

Atletico Bilbao winger Nico Williams has revealed that his brother Iñaki Williams is excited to feature for Ghana at the World Cup level.

Iñaki, 29, who is making history with Spanish club Atletico Bilbao represented the Africa giant’s at the FIFA World Cup following a successful switch to nationality.

He switched allegiance to play for Ghana in July and earned a debut call-up in September were he played against Brazil and Nicaragua in an international friendly before a game against Switzerland in November.

At the 2022 FIFA World Cup, the Spanish born footballer featured in all three group stage games at the Mundial, playing against Portugal, South Korea and Uruguay.

According to younger brother of the Spanish-based Ghanaian-born, Nico Williams his elder brother Iñaki Williams is excited to represent Ghana.

“Iñaki told me that if we reach the final, he will be here”

“My brother is very happy to represent Ghana and I was very clear that I wanted to be with Spain.”

Nico Williams failed to switched allegiance following a call-up by Luis Enrique, manager of the Spanish national team.

He also represented Spain at the World Cup, having them reach the round of 16 and losing 3-0 on penalties following a goalless draw in 120 minutes.
