MTN FA CUP REPORT: Dreams FC eliminate Liberty Professionals for semi-finals berth
The Still Believe lads had no mercy on lower-tier side Liberty Professionals FC as they humbled them to a resounding 3-0 win at the Theatre of Dreams in Dawu on Saturday.
Despite, head coach Abdul Karim Zito taking a bold step to rest his regular starters it was an easy passage for the top-flight club who edged past the former Ghana Premier League club.
The host opened the scoring account on the 13th minute through Gael Aholou who scored with a beautiful header.
Emmanuel Adade doubled the lead before the 20th minute mark after having his deflected shot eluded the entire opposition backline before getting into the net.
Liberty Professionals though got slapped twice in the first half but managed to put up a good performance which almost got them a consolation before half time but Dreams FC backline had to push it away.
In the second half, Simba Sylvester came close to making it three for Dreams FC but strike missed post by inches.
The “Scientific Soccer Lads” Liberty Professionals FC despite dominating play in the second half were not strong enough to curtail the home side from increasing their goal tally.
Ali Huzaif with 2 minutes to full time, scored a solo goal to make it 3-0 for his outfit.
The results sees Dreams FC cruise into the quarter final of the 2023 MTN FA Cup.
