Mohammed Salisu continues to be left of the Southampton squad due to doubts over his commitment to the Saints.

The Ghana International is yet to play for Southampton since returning from international duty with the Black Stars.

He was left out of Southampton’s squad to face both Westham United and Manchester City.

While the club attributed his absence from the squad against Westham to ‘injury concerns’, the defender was left once again in the 4-1 loss to Manchester City last weekend.

Meanwhile, reports in the UK suggest that the Ghanaian’s absence was due to his reluctance to commit to a new deal with Saints.

Mohammed Salisu’s current deal ends next summer and attempts by Southampton to tie the player to a new deal are yet to yield any results.

Southampton currently sits bottom of the premier league table with just two wins since mid-February, prompting most of the key players to keep their options open.

Meanwhile, Newcastle United are rumoured to be interested in the 23-year-old although talks have been complicated by recent intricacies in the player’s agency.
