The Congolese midfielder Linda Mtange broke the deadlock five minutes after the hour mark to see his outfit Hearts of Oak SC take the lead.

Hearts of Oak SC having suffered a heavy 3-0 defeat away to Karela United FC last weekend, knew what was at stake should they drop points against city rivals Accra Lions FC on Wednesday night.

The Continental Club Masters were held to a goalless draw in the first half, despite opening up the defensive line of their guest on several occasions at the Accra Sports Stadium. Coach David Ocloo’s side were frustrated to the apex till whistle was blown for a break.

After recess, host Hearts of Oak SC regrouped to curtail the visitors from spreading wide play asuch, counter press them in their own half for the balls.

It was no surprise, Linda Mtange registered the only goal of the crunchy encounter in the 65th minute. The Congolese scored his debut goal for the club to open his scoring account.

The attacking midfielder was a delight to watch as he kept holding Hearts of Oak SC on with his attacking prowess through to full time.

Hearts of Oak picked all points with a narrow 1-0 victory after Accra Lions could not respond to them. The win sees Hearts move up the later to 5th position with 38 points after 24 games.
