MATCH REPORT: League leaders Aduana Stars extends lead with Medeama SC triumph
Kelvin Obeng’s first half header was enough for Aduana Stars to snatch all three points from Medeama SC with a vital 1-0 to return on winning ways in GPL match-week 21.
Coach Paa Kwesi Fabin began with a very strong line up and as usual, goalkeeper Joseph Addo was in goal and the captain alongside experience figures like Sam Adams, Adom Frimpong and Elvis Opoku.
With Medeama, young goalie Felix Kyei was chosen to command the sticks. Vicent Atinga, Benjamin Abaidoo, Nurudeen Abdulai, captain Kwesi Donsu all made the cut.
The two teams all started the game on a higher note and matched each other boot to boot in terms of possession and chances creation leaving an even exchanges in the early stages.
Aduana Stars finally snatched the lead on the 35th minute through Kelvin Obeng who scored with a towering header from Elvis Opoku’s cross.
In the second half, in a quest to finding their rhythm in the game, the Mauves and Yellows returned from the break with three quick substitutions hoping it turns things around for them in Dormaa.
Aduana Stars persistent pressure dropped at some point in the game, as they had their focused set on preserving their lead to full time.
Medeama SC did all they could, attacked with so much intent and purpose but couldn’t find the equalizer.
It ended 1-0 for Aduana Stars after full time who have now moved to 39 points to maintain their lead on the table.
