The Passioners could not have done it better, than humble giant’s Accra Hearts of Oak SC at the Crosby Awuah Memorial Park on Saturday afternoon.

The 2022-23 BetPawa Premier League match-week 23 game saw Karela United FC keep a cleansheet despite netting thrice for all points. It was an emphatic home victory having dominated play especially in the first half of the game.

Hearts of Oak SC suffered an early goal in the 16th minute after Konadu Yiadom had failed to deal with a dangerous ball on their left of defence which later found former teammate Fatawu Mohammed who placed in a low cross to Emmanuel Boakye and with a header, Goalkeeper Richmond Ayi was nowhere near the ball.

16 minutes later, Karela United FC doubled their lead from an own goal. Konadu Yiadom inspired them to a 2-0 lead before break.

Hearts of Oak Manager David Ocloo effected changes to stabilise his side and improve efficiency upfront but his plan did not bare fruit.

Though, they enjoyed some minutes of ball possessing but not enough to commit the homers for a consolation.

Many believe it was all over, until Richard Berko made it three for coach Mohammed Tanko’s outfit in the 87th minute, to rap it off.

The win gives hope to Karela United FC who are battling relegation whiles it denies the Phobians a push up the log.
