Drama as Berekum Chelsea scores late to deny Aduana Stars victory
The Ghana Premier League game between Berekum Chelsea and Aduana Stars ended in dramatic fashion on Wednesday as both teams scored late goals to share the spoils.
The two teams locked horns at Golden City Park on Wednesday afternoon to battle for points in Week 24 of the ongoing 2022/23 Ghana Premier League season.
Despite both sides creating a number of chances in the first half, neither side could score and had to go into the break on level pegging.
After recess, league leaders Aduana Stars doubled their efforts in a bid to find the back of the net.
After several attempts, Aduana Stars had the breakthrough just three minutes to the end of the game.
A Douglas Owusu equaliser got the team closer to victory but it was just not meant to be.
Berekum Chelsea poster boy Mezack Afriyie had different ideas and scored in injury time to force the match to end in a 1-1 draw.
The setback today has seen the gap opened by Aduana Stars at the top of the Ghana Premier League table cut down to just one.
