Accra Lions exhibited a five star display to marmalize regional rivals Legon Cities FC by an emphatic 3-1 in GPL match-week 11 fixture at the Red Bull Arena.

The Lions begun on a blistering note, right from the blast of the referee’s whistle in search for the opener in the early stages of the game.

The Royals however, also came so close to grabbing the lead on the 15th minute but Charles Meider couldn’t make it count.

The Blue-Blacks dominated every aspect of the first half, having about three glorious opportunities fell their way but couldn’t make anything useful out of them.

In the second half, the homesters kept on from where they ended. But it took them 32 minutes from the recess to snatch the lead through Evans Ampofo with a very beautiful volley from 25 yards. Just what they have been hunting for.

Eight minutes after, Solomon Oppong doubled their lead with a beautiful drive giving goalkeeper Winfred Honu no chance at all.

On the 90th minute mark, Abdul Majeed Maswud scored to complete the riots. Second goalscorer Solomon Oppong with the assist on this one.

Samuel Armah ensured no clean sheet for the host after scoring on the 90+6 minute to reduce the deficit. It ended 3-1 after full time in Sogakope.

Accra Lions after this sweet win, have moved to the 3rd position on the log, tied up with second-place Hearts of Oak on 19 points each.
