Liberia President George Weah donates $10,000 to Atsu’s family
President of Liberia and former AC Milan superstar, George Oppong Weah have paid tribute to Ghanaian footballer Christian Atsu following his demise few days ago.
Weah who could not visit Ghana, described the demise of Ghanaian footballer Christian Atsu as an “irreplaceable loss”.
In a note handed over by delegation to the family of the later Black Stars winger who died as a result of the devastating earhtquake that hit Turkey earlier in the month, said; “I am deeply saddened to hear the devastating news of the passing of my neighbor, my small brother, and my young friend, the late Christian Atsu, who was a victim of the recent earthquake in Turkey,” the note read.
“I knew him personally, and in his formative years in the game of soccer, I had the opportunity to interact with him with his early training.
“I would like to express my deepest condolences and sincere sympathy to the bereaved family and to his friends everywhere for this irreplaceable loss.
“Rest In Peace, Small Brother.
“Dr. George Manneh Weah.
“PRESIDENT OF THE REPUBLIC OF LIBERIA.
The delegation was led by Pastor Kwame Ayew which they made a donation of $10,000 to the family to support their expenses.
