Kurt Okraku was overthrown as administrative manager at GHALCA for embezzlement- George Afriyie
Football administrator George Afriyie has made startling allegations about Ghana Football Association (GFA) President Kurt Okraku’s past tenure as Administrative Manager at the Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA).
Speaking to Asempa FM, Afriyie claimed that Okraku’s tenure at GHALCA was marred by financial mismanagement and alleged embezzlement of funds.
“Kurt Okraku’s first major position before he became a club owner was as an Administrative Manager at GHALCA. The GHALCA funds in his care were embezzled,” Afriyie stated.
He further alleged that some individuals involved used the funds for personal gains, including purchasing cars and issuing loans.
“Some bought cars with it, some gave it out as loans, and they shared it among themselves,” Afriyie said.
According to Afriyie, the situation eventually led to Okraku being ousted from his role through the intervention of key figures in Ghanaian football administration at the time.
“Cudjoe Fianoo and Oluboi Commodore led the charge and overthrew Kurt,” he added.
The allegations add to the growing scrutiny of Okraku’s leadership at the GFA, with various stakeholders raising concerns over the state of football in Ghana.
