Black Queens head coach Kim Lars Bjorkegren has expressed his commitment to enhancing the team’s overall performance following two friendly matches against Senegal’s Teranga Lionesses.

The two international friendlies, played as part of Ghana’s preparations for the 2025 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), ended with a win and a loss for the Queens.

Ghana edged Senegal 1-0 in the first game but fell by the same scoreline in the return fixture played on Tuesday, April 8, 2025.

Speaking after the second match, Coach Bjorkegren acknowledged that while the team showed promise, there is still a lot of room for improvement—particularly in the attacking department.

“I think we can play better football. That’s the part I’m going to take with me,” the Swedish tactician said.

“We are also in the process that we have started to build with the defense. Now we are starting to build the midfield and how we can connect to the attacking part. In these two games, we couldn’t do that.”

Bjorkegren emphasized that his focus for the next camp will be to improve team cohesion, especially linking midfield transitions to the final third.

“So I think that will be my job in the next camp—to connect all the pieces. If we do that, we will be a much better team. But I think the performances could be better, even if we won the first one,” he added.

With the WAFCON tournament fast approaching, the Black Queens are expected to enter another training camp in the coming weeks as Bjorkegren continues to refine his squad for continental success.
