Jonathan Mensah impresses in debut for San Jose Earthquakes

Ghana defender Jonathan Mensah marked his debut for San Jose with a defeat on Saturday at the Mercedes-Benz stadium.

The center-back made his debut in his outfit 2-1 defeat to Atlanta United at home, seeing a bad introduction to his days at new club.

In front of over 67,000 fans, Mensah gave a very good account of himself to attract fans applaud. He recorded a 95% pass success rate in 90 minutes of action.

Mensah, had 33 touches on the ball with eight clearance and completed three out of four attempted long balls.

The former Ashanti Gold SC star, joined San Jose Earthquakes early this season from Columbus Crew were he spend several seasons with the Yellows.

The 31-year-old dependable center-back, showed character on first day at office but tasted first defeat in a 2-1 lost.
