"It was not just a good day for us" - GoldStars SC boss Michael Osei on defeat to RTU
The Miner’s suffered their first heavy defeat of the 2022-23 BetPawa Premier League after losing 5-1 to Real Tamale United FC on Sunday in week 26 game.
Bibiani GoldStars SC travelled away to the Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium but returned to Bibiani with no points, following Issah Kuka’s hat-trick punch, Manaf Umar’s opener and Stephen Dankwa Badu’s strike.
The Pride of the North were leading 2-0 before red-hot Abednego Tetteh scored to reduce the deficit before break. However, still succumbed to a 5-1 defeat. GoldStars SC are among top 3 best performers away this season, having accumulated close to 19 points.
But on Sunday, went on a black out following a poor second half display.
Speaking in an interview with Kolog Bonaventure, head coach of Bibiani GoldStars SC said he observed weakness and tiredness within his players during warm-up and that went along way to affect the team.
According to him, they could have lost more than 5-1 since they were struggling to create goal scoring opportunities.
“Tactically, nothing did work for us what we plan could not be implemented, the players were very weak”I saw it on our warm up from behind that they were not on their selfs’.
“We were struggling right from the beginning of the game. We could not hold the ball like we normally played in away matches and without the ball we can not run and defend, we were totally blackout”, Osei said.
“RTU were only playing the game and creating alot of goal scoring chances,
we should have considered more than 5 goals”
“We couldn’t do anything. I will never ever forget this game in my coaching career”, the former Asante Kotoko gaffer stated.
The defeat leaves Bibiani GoldStars SC 6th position with 38 points.
They will face Berekum Chelsea FC at home in their next fixture come Sunday, 23 April, 2023.
