Hearts of Oak SC and Asante Kotoko SC on verge of losing Africa Super League slot; CHECK WHY

Two most glorious clubs in the Ghanaian top-flight, Asante Kotoko SC and Hearts of Oak SC are set to lose their ticket to participate in the upcoming Africa Super League competition since they have no women’s team.

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) after consenting to the new competition for clubs in Africa dubbed Africa Super League has outlined that each club gets a women’s team before participating in the upcoming competition. It was announced in November 2019 by Gianno Infantino and launched on 10 August 2022 in Tanzania.

It will include twenty-four elite African clubs with a promotion/relegation system.

According, to the organisers the new competition will kickoff August, 2023.

Twelve (12) teams in Africa have already secured their membership ticket with giant’s Hearts of Oak SC included.

Multiple source reveals that, Hearts of Oak SC fierce rivals Asante Kotoko SC will be added to the pool of teams that will play in the inaugural competition.

The aforementioned clubs might loose their ticket to play in the Africa Super League since they have not met conditions that will make them eligible.

The format by CAF is to ensure, Women’s clubs also grow alongside the men’s CAF Inter-Club competitions.

The essence of holding this tournament is the huge financial returns, projected to exceed $100 million, to be used to develop and improve stadiums, infrastructure and the promotion of African football.
