Hearts of Oak release statement on coach Slavko Matic

The Continental Club Masters are urging their supporters to calm down and seize fire on first team coach Slavko Matic, following an unpleasant incident on Friday morning at the club’s training grounds, Pobiman.

On the early hours of Friday, aggrieved fans of the outfit stormed the training grounds to prevent the Serbian tactician from holding training sessions with the team. The fans are angry at some utterances of the coach, and the fact that he is not fit for Hearts of Oak SC coaching job he should leave.

Matic have played 14 games since taking over from Samuel Boadu and managed to win 7, drawn four and lost three.

On Sunday, Hearts of Oak SC will come face to face with Asante Kotoko SC in 2023 President Cup and 2022-23 BetPawa Premier League match week 20 fixture.

With fans preventing him from discharging his core duty, the club have released statement asking supporters to be calm.

“The Management of Accra Hearts of Oak SC PLC has taken notice of comments made in the media inciting supporters to stop the head coach Slavko Matic from performing his duties”

“We kindly entreat all Phobians to desist from performing any acts of violence but to remain calm. As a club, the safety of all its employees remains paramount”

“We are law-abiding and will therefore not shield anyone who engages in any violence act against the spirit of the game”

“We urge all Phobians to rather channel their petitions and or grievances if any, through the management to the board for redress”

“Please calm down and rally behind the club as we prepare for Sunday’s encounter and subsequently the remaining fixtures of the 2022-23 season”, club statement reads.
