Hearts of Oak host second placed Accra Lions Wednesday – Match Preview

Struggling Accra Hearts of Oak SC will on Wednesday night, entertain high-flying Accra Lions FC in 2022-23 BetPawa Premier League mid-week fixture.

The Phobians return to Accra to host Accra Lions after losing 3-0 to Karela United last weekend.

The Capital-based outfit suffered their first loss since assistant coach David Ocloo took over from Slavko Matic as head coach.

They will take on second-place Accra Lions who are winless in their last two games but have picked 10 points in their last 5 – a joint-best form with only Medeama SC since match day 19.

With just two points separating them and leaders Aduana Stars, Lions will attempt to recover from their 3-0 loss at Nsoatreman when they play Hearts of Oak in the Capital.

Accra Lions look the better side on paper however matches against Hearts of Oak have not ended in their favor.

The club has lost all three games they have played against the Rainbow, conceded 8, and scored just one.

A win for Hearts of Oak will see them join Accra lions’ level on points (38) and potentially draw closer to Aduana Stars depending on their results against Berekum Chelsea.

Lions will be without head coach Ibrahim Tanko and two key players Abass Samari Salifu and Dominic Nsobila who were on international duty with the Black Meteors.

Meanwhile, the match is scheduled for 6 PM at the Accra Sports Stadium on Wednesday night.
