Gold Stars Boss Hails Team Spirit After Hard-Fought FA Cup Triumph Over Basake Holy Stars
Bibiani Gold Stars head coach Nana Yaw Amankwah has lauded his players for their resilience and determination after grinding out a narrow 1–0 victory against Basake Holy Stars in the MTN FA Cup.
The tightly contested fixture, played away from home, demanded patience and composure from the Miners, who had to withstand sustained pressure from Holy Stars. Despite the intensity of the encounter, Gold Stars held firm and waited for the perfect moment to strike.
That moment arrived courtesy of Emmanuel Agyei, who came back to haunt his former club with a precise finish that ultimately sealed the victory. His lively movement, link-up play, and relentless pressing earned him the Man of the Match accolade, underlining his growing importance to Coach Amankwah’s setup.
Reflecting on the performance, the Gold Stars tactician praised his squad for rising to the occasion.
“It was a very good game. The Basake team was at the top this time — whoever you are playing, before you can overcome Basake for now, unless you are good. My guys have done well, the boys have played football today, that is why we were able to beat Basake. They did very well,” Coach Amankwah told Bibiani Gold Stars TV.
With a place in the next round secured, Gold Stars will quickly turn their focus to the Ghana Premier League, where they face seventh-placed Samartex on December 7. The club hopes to carry the momentum from their FA Cup success into the league campaign as they push for a strong finish.
