Former Asante Kotoko management member Solomon Ofosu -Ware has disclosed that the outfit at the moment is financially not strong, a reason they will not fire uninspiring tactician Seydou Zerbo.

The Ghanaian champions at the start of 2022-23 BetPawa Premier League appointed Burkinabe trainer Seydou Zerbo as new head coach and to replace Prosper Nerteh Ogum. A contract of one-year was signed with an option of another year but it looks the marriage will end at the end of season.

Management of the Kumasi-based outfit plotted to fire Seydou Zerbo due to inconsistent results in all competitions.

Currently, Kotoko is only enjoying the Ghana Premier League which they even sit 5th on the log with 31 points and are out of the MTN FA Cup.

The Burkinabe is yet to win three games away having lost four and drawn three away. Nevertheless, the club have rescinded on sacking him till season ends.

According to former management member, Solomon Ofosu -Ware Kotoko is not financially strong to fire Zerbo asuch, should allow him work. Seydou will be paid a compensation of $20,000 should contract be terminated.

“Asante Kotoko is financially broke due to low attendances at the stadium, management only relies on the little they get from sponsorship deals,” Ex Mgt Member, Chairman Solo told OTEC FM.

“I will not advice the management to sack Seydou Zerbo, they should allow him (to finish his contract) because sacking him will cost the club too”

“Let’s support him till the end of the season, then Management can decide on his future”.
