Former GFA ExCO member Oduro Nyarko insist Chris Hughton can’t be manipulated
Former Executive Council member of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Samuel Oduro Nyarko believe no one can influence new Ghana coach Chris Hughton when it comes to player call-up.
It’s being purported that, coaches at the Black Stars are being manipulated asuch falls into the trap of authorities leading to their sack. Isn’t it surprising that, Ghana have appointed four coaches in the space of two-years including Chris Hughton?
Charles Kwablan Akonnor left the coaching role for Milovan Rejevac who could not last for even three months before Otto Addo tool over.
Reports, in the media has it that every manager appointed as Ghana coach attains headache of interference and manipulation with many already tipping Chris Hughton to suffer same.
But an astute football administrator, Nyarko strongly believe the former Newcastle United, Nottingham Forest and Tottenham Hotspur boss can not be manipulated by any.
“Hughton is the man who cannot be manipulated; he is good. I think that he is the one who will stick to his guns and not allow himself to be manipulated. That makes him a good coach, coupled with his experience in the English premier league.
“It (the Black Stars) is a young team and the possibility to lead this team to success is glaring.” Oduro Nyarko told Citi FM.
Chris Hughton was appointed the Black Stars head coach last month on a year and half contract which will expire on December 31, 2024.
The former Newcastle United manager succeeded Otto Addo who resigned as the Black Stars head coach after the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar where Ghana performed abysmally.
Before his appointment, Chris Hughton served as the Black Stars technical director for the World Cup in Qatar.
He played his first game as Black Stars head coach against Angola in the 2023 AFCON qualifiers in Kumasi where Ghana won by 1:0 followed by a 1:1 draw in Luanda.
