Daniel Afriyie Barnieh’s father reveals why Son signed short contract with Hearts of Oak SC before joining FC Zürich

Father for Ghana international Daniel Afriyie Barnieh, Francis William has disclosed reason for his son signing contract extension with giant’s Hearts of Oak SC before leaving to Europe.

Afriyie, 22, joined the Phobians on a two and half year contract which saw it elapse on December 31, 2022 but opted for a short-term contract of two months upon sealing a deal with Swiss side FC Zürich.

The former Ghana U-20 captain and Black Galaxies deputy captain prior to national team assignment with Black Galaxies in Algeria for the 2022 TotalEnergies African Nations Championship (CHAN) had his contract run out, however, had secured the move abroad.

The news was shocking, that Afriyie Barnieh has renewed his contract with Hearts of Oak SC. A deal which wouldn’t see him play for Phobia but will have him committed with contract asuch not leave as a free agent to FC Zürich.

His decision gave the Continental Club Masters sum huge amount of Euros.

Speaking to Asanteman FM 107.3 in Kumasi , Francis Williams said his Son decision to renew contract with Hearts of Oak SC was for the good things they offered him.

“My son renewed his contract with Hearts of Oak because of the good things the club did for him” – Francis Williams.

Barnie signed FC Zürich on a four-year contract for an undisclosed fee following a successful agreement and has already begun training with the team in Switzerland.

Contract, runs until June 2026 with the club.
