Daniel Afriyie Barnieh seals move to Swiss side FC Zurich

Ghanaian hot-cake Daniel Afriyie Barnieh has sealed a sensational move to Swiss side FC Zürich.

The 21-year-old attacking midfielder has been spotted in the Jersey of the Swiss club after agreeing a long term contract with the team.

Barnie, who previously played for Ghana U-20 team had his contract with giant’s Hearts of Oak SC run out in December 26, 2022 but has reportedly signed a new deal with the Phobians.

His been sold to FC Zürich with Hearts of Oak getting $150,000 as training and development fees but has a big future sell-on clause inserted into the contract.

Barnieh was part of the Black Stars squad that played at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar although he did not play a single minute but featured in Ghana’s last preparatory game against Switzerland where he performed well.

He is currently in the Black Galaxies camp where he contributed immensely to their qualification for the 2022 CHAN tournament.

Afriyie Barnieh scored three goals in four matches in the qualifiers against Benin and Nigeria, earning in place in the Black Star’s final squad for the World Cup in Qatar.

He was impressive for the Ghana U23 side when they eliminated Mozambique from the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers with him scoring in each of the two-legged ties.
