Chairman of the Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA), Cudjo Fianoo has said poor patronage of the Ghanaian top-flight bow down to the system of charging fans on match days.

Despite, the poor conditions of pitches approved by the Club Licensing Board (CLB) and used by the clubs, lack of pulling supporters to venues on match days has being apportioned to E-ticketing. A moderm used in purchasing tickets for matches.

In recent times, club’s in the Ghanaian league struggle to get numbers at the stadia less to talk about earning much from gate proceeds. In December 2022, poor attendance awarded King Faisal nothing much when they hosted Nsoatreman FC at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.

Speaking in an interview with Oyerepa FM, Cudjo Fianoo asserted fans have failed to go to the Stadium during matchdays because of E-ticketing.

“E-ticketing is a factor affecting our stadium league attendance but there are other factors”

“I believe there are no stars in the league whom fans can go and watch. The few outstanding players leave the moment they come to the limelight”

“The GFA must also be blamed because of the inadequate sponsorship in the league. If we make the league attractive, coperate bodies will invest”

“By now clubs should be in serious consultation with the GFA but they are busily chasing three points”, he said.

Fianoo added; “The thorny issue of people not coming to the stadium did not start today. At a point,we had to open free gate in Kotoko vs Hearts in the president cup”

“It is a dangerous situation now”The GFA, GHALCA, the Clubs and everyone must be concerned, we are running into a ditch.”
