Christian Atsu’s remains arrive in Ghana for burial
The Turkish Airlines on Sunday evening, landed in Ghana with the remains of ex-Ghana international Christian Atsu whose unfortunate death was confirmed on Saturday morning in Turkey.
The 31-year-old was amongst thousands of people who were trapped in the unfortunate and tragic earthquake incident in Turkey and Syria.
His remains is now in the West African Country expected to be given a befitting burial in the coming days.
Authorities such as the Ghana Football Association and Ministry of Youth and Sports were around at the Kotoka airport to meet officials from Turkey who brought the remains.
Atsu won 65 caps for Ghana and helped the Black Stars reach the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations final in Equatorial Guinea, winning the Player of the tournament.
He played for English clubs such as, Newcastle United FC, Chelsea FC, AFC Bournemouth, FC Evwr and Spanish club Malaga as well as FC Porto of Portugal.
