Christian Atsu’s one week observation set for next month
The family of former Ghana international, Christian Atsu has officially settled on a date for the one week observation of the footballer.
Atsu died at age 31, as a result of earthquake in Turkey and Syria which got him trapped in a two storey building in a 7.7 magnitude of earthquake. After an enigmatic moment of football game for Hatayaspor where he scored the only goal of the game from benched was trapped close to 12-days, only to be confirmed dead on Saturday morning.
His death has left many in shock, especially the Ghanaian community and his former clubs.
However, his remains has arrived in Ghana expected to be given a befitting burial in the coming weeks. Meanwhile, the Ghana Football Association has revealed that the family has scheduled March 04, 2023 for Christian Atsu’s one week and later will announce the final funeral date for all Ghanaians.
Henry Asante Twum, spokesman for the GFA disclosed this after joining delegation to visit the family house of late Christian Atsu.
“The GFA delegation today visited the family house of the late Christian Atsu, led by Mr Alex Asante and Mr Oduro Sarfo and it was to mourn with the family and to give them the assurance of support from the GFA”
“The family per what we were told today has settled on 4th March 2023 for His one week and later will announce the final funeral date for all Ghanaians” he told Hot FM.
Atsu with the Black Stars made 65 appearance and scored nine goals.
He had stint with FC Porto, AFC Bournemouth, Newcastle United, FC Everton, Malaga and Chelsea FC.
