Christian Atsu’s family to meet President Akufo-Addo on Monday to decide on burial date

The Ministry of Youth and Sports has announced that the family of late Christian Atsu will meet President Akufo-Addo on Monday, February 27 to make a decision on the date for the burial of the footballer.

The family officially met Mustapha Ussif to officially inform him of the death of the 31-year-old, which was confirmed on Saturday, February 18.

The player was trapped under the rubble of the Turkey earthquake for 12 days.

His remains were returned to Ghana on Sunday, with tributes pouring in from all walks of life.

A statement on the Sports Ministry’s official Facebook said, “after deliberating on the burial of the late Atsu, it was concluded that a meeting will be held with the President of the Republic of Ghana on Monday 27th February, 2023 to agree on a suitable date for his burial.”

Christian Atsu’s one week observation has been set for March 4.
