Ghana beat Sudan 3-1 on Thursday at the Chahid Hamlaoui stadium in Constantine to put themselves up for qualification after completing a sensational comeback.

The Black Galaxies had a bright start to their second Group C game of the 2022 TotalEnergies African Nations Championship but had a shocker before the 40th minute.

Following poor makings and break down in Annor Walker’s midfield line, simplicity of football exposed his backline which has Konadu Yiadom, Solomon Adomako and Augustine Agyapong.

From Ghana’s right-back position, Sudan picked the advantage to push the Black Galaxies to the wall by breaking the deadlock.

Sudan chanced on the lead with a sublime finish in the 31st minute.

Ghana after conceding the opener, came stronger into the encounter though they were always suspects in defense when attacking. Coach Annor Walker side nearly suffered from a poor communication situation between Adomako and Goalkeeper Danlad Ibrahim, but thanks to Sudanese forward who chose power over precision despite having just two players covering the goalpost for Danlad Ibrahim.

From a corner-kick, taken by left-back Dennis Korsah Real Tamale United star David Abagna Sandan had a good position of the ball to set it up for defender Konadu Yiadom in Sudan box. With a simple touch of the ball, there was the equalizer in first half stoppage time.

Ghana commanded play after recess, to complete a comeback before the 70th minute.

Talisman, Daniel Afriyie Barnieh won a penalty after he was fouled in the Falcons box in the 65th minute mark. The forward doubled the Black Galaxies lead from 12-yards.

Barnie had his second but saw Video Assistant Referee cancel for offside.

On two occasions, Goalkeeper Danlad Ibrahim had to come to the rescue of Ghana to deny Sudan from levelling scores.

Substitute Seidu Suraj in the stoppage placed the icing on the cake, with an enigmatic tap in after the Falcons failed to clear their lines to make it 3-1.

Ghana stands the chance of qualifying should Madagascar beat Sudan in their last Group C fixture.

The Black Galaxies despite losing 2-1 to Madagascar, has now accumulated 6 points 5 goals having claimed 3 points plus 3 goals from Morocco who failed to turn up.
