CAF reopen bid for AFCON 2025 after stripping of Guinea
The Confederation of African Football(CAF) has reopened bid for 2025 AFCON hosting right after stripping off Guinea the opportunity.
On Saturday, October 1 2022, the Executive Committee of CAF held a meeting in Algiers, Algeria where the draw for 2023 Totalenergies Africa Nations Championship (CHAN) was held. During, the meeting at was agreed a new country will host the 2025 AFCON tournament since Guinea can’t host.
Country’s interested in hosting the event, thus 2025 Africa Cup of Nations is expected to bid for the right.
In an official statement from CAF, it reads;
“The Confédération Africaine de Football (“CAF”) Executive Committee (“EXCO”) met on Saturday 1 October 2022 in Algiers, Algeria and announced the re-opening of bids for the TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations 2025,” an official club statement from CAF has said.
Meanwhile, CAF has extended best wishes to all five teams that have qualified for the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
“CAF wishes Senegal, Tunisia, Ghana, Morocco and Cameroon all of the best in the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022,” the CAF statement concludes.
