Black Stars defender, Alidu Seidu has tipped the Black Stars to play in the final of the 2022 FIFA World Cup to be staged in Qatar.

The closest Ghana has been to the trophy was in South Africa in 2010 when Milovan Rajevac led the country to a quarterfinal finish.

The Black Stars lost on penalty shootouts to Uruguay to end Africa’s dream of having a representative in the semi-final.

However, with a return to the Mundial, Seidu has backed the West African nation to be in the final or at least make the last four.

Speaking on Star Connect which aired on Joy Prime TV, the 22-year-old said, “They say African teams have never been in the semi-finals. My prediction is that if we don’t get to the final, we will get to the semis.

“I think we will get to the final or semi-final,” he stressed.

Seidu also picked Senegal as another country from Africa that could excel in Qatar aside from Ghana.

“Senegal have a lot of quality and my friend [Mory Diaw] says they can’t wait to be at the World Cup. They want to fight for their nation and try to get something at the World Cup.”

Seidu will look to be in Ghana’s final squad for the World Cup when Otto Addo announces his players on Monday, November 14.
