“Black Stars’ Challenges Are Not Normal; Things Were Different Under My Leadership”- Nyantakyi
Former Ghana Football Association (GFA) President Kwasi Nyantakyi has raised concerns over the current state of the Black Stars, describing their challenges as far from ordinary.
Nyantakyi’s remarks come at a time when the Black Stars are grappling with underwhelming performances, including their recent failure to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
Speaking in an interview with Kumasi-based Lawson FM, the former football administrator reflected on the team’s struggles in recent years and suggested a potential shift in management style and decision-making.
“Black Stars’ challenges are not normal,” Nyantakyi stated. “Maybe when I was in charge, I was doing things differently. If you look at the coaches who coached the Black Stars, it is not the same as today.”
During his tenure, Nyantakyi oversaw a period of relative success for Ghanaian football, including three consecutive FIFA World Cup qualifications (2006, 2010, and 2014) and strong showings in AFCON tournaments.
