Black Starlets brush Serbia aside in opener for UEFA under-16 youth development tournament

Ghana’s youth team, the Black Starlets begun the UEFA U-16 four-nation tournament with a heavy win over their counterparts Serbia on Thursday afternoon in Serbia.

The tournament which is a youth team development project, saw coach Karim Zito side humiliate Serbia 4-0 in the opening game. Ghana had a good start to the encounter asuch counted on their prowess upfront without squandering opportunities.

Just 3 minutes into the game, Benjamin Tsivano opened the scoring from a spot-kick. 10 minutes later, the Black Starlets extended their lead after a blistering counter attack, Debrah Bossman set up Benjamin Tsivano to tap the ball into an empty net, making it 2-0.

Exactly in the 17th minute, Benjamin Tsivano grabbed his hat-trick and his team’s 3rd. The youngster made no mistake after he was set through on goal by Asumadu Ramsey with a beautiful pass.

With few minutes to break, Ghana compounded the wounds of the host with a 4th goal.

Adjetey Nii Adjei Theophilus smashed in a free-kick from long-range.

The second half of the game produced no goals, Ghana controlled the half and created some good chances but failed to take them.

The Black Starlets will now turn attention to their second game on Saturday, April 15 against Spain.

The game is scheduled to kickoff at 12:30 GMT.
