AFC Bournemouth forward, Antoine Semenyo rescued his country from a home draw by scoring late goal which proved to be the winner.

Semenyo climbed off the bench to inspire Ghana to a 1-0 triumph over Angola in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier game on Thursday afternoon. He replaced Jordan Ayew in the 70th minute to strengthen Ghana’s upfront as they amassed all points going into the second leg fixture.

Speaking in an interview after the game, he said he is extremely happy to score his first ever goal on home soil. He needed to score and the team needed to win.

“There was no pressure. I need to make sure I’m effective for the team. I always wanna help the team and be effective. I am happy today and we have to go again in the next few days”

“I’m really happy for the goal. I needed it, and the team needed it,” Antoine Semenyo said.

Semenyo’s goal against Angola is his second international goal since switching nationality to play for the four-time African champions.

Ghana will play the reverse fixture against Angola on March 27.
