Andre Ayew scores as Al-Sadd cruise past Al-Rayyan in Qatar

Ghanaian international, Andre Ayew registered his name on the scorecard for Al-Sadd in their 2-1 win over Al-Rayyan in the Qatar Stars League on Wednesday.

Ayew fired Al-Sadd into the lead as early in the 7th minute before Akram Afif doubled their tally in the 52nd minute.

Former French international, Steven Nzonzi pulled one back for Al-Rayyan in the 56th minute but was not enough for the homesters to atleast claim a point at the Thani bin Jassim Stadium.

The result moves Al-Sadd to eighth on the league log with 10 points affter 8 games.

Al-Sadd began well, and were able to take the lead whe Ayew made no mistake from close range after a pass from Baghdad Bounedjah.

Following the halftime break, Al-Sadd finally got their goal through Akram.

He fed on Bounedjah’s deflected ball which fell onto his path as he scored with a first-time effort.

Four minutes later, Steven Nzonzi reduced the deficit for Al-Rayyan by flicking the ball in past goalie Saad Al-Sheeb from a corner kick.

Ayew has now contributed to four goals, having scored three and assisted one in all competitions for the reigning champions.
