Anderlecht midfielder Majeed Ashimeru returns to Black Stars after two years
The Anderlecht midfielder has been included in Ghana’s final squad for their upcoming Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Angola later this month.
Majeed Ashimeru since 2021 failed to return to the Black Stars but kept pushing for a sensational return and there he gets it. New Ghana coach Chris Hughton announced his 25-man squad for their double-header against Angola on Thursday.
In the squad, has seen the return of some players including Joseph Paintsil, Joojo Wollacott and Edmund Addo of Spartak Subotica.
Majeed despite a blistering form with Belgium Jupiler Pro League side Anderlecht could not make it to the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
His statistics in the ongoing 2022-23 campaign has been one of the best among Ghanaian players abroad.
He earned a place alongside Thomas Partey, Abdul Salis Samed and Edmund Addo.
Ghana will lock horns with Angola in Kumasi on March 23, 2023 before a return fixture in Luanda three days later.
The Black Stars currently sit top of Group E with 4 points following a 3-0 win over Madagascar and a 1-1 draw against Central African Republic.
