Aliou Cisse’ faces sack as Senegal manager

The former Senegalese International, Aliou Cisse’ is currently facing a sack as Senegal manager, after their campaign in the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

Cisse’ was appointed boss of the 2021 African Cup of Nations champions in 2015 following the decision by the Senegalese Football Federation to part ways with Amara Traoré.

The former Paris Saint-Germain defender led the side to their 2022 FIFA World Cup tournament in the Asian country were they managed to progress from Group phase of to fall to England.

Senegal faced Qatar, the Netherlands and Ecuador in Group A.

The Lions of Talanga secured second spot in Group A, behind the Netherlands, as they picked up a thoroughly deserved 2-1 victory against Ecuador in their last group game to make to the knockout stage first time in 20 years.

Head coach Aliou Cissé was considering leaving his post as coach of the Senegal team but is now actually facing the sack.

Some officials of the Senegalese Federation say he has reached his limits as coach of the National Team and that he must leave.

Cissé was named the head coach of Senegal in 2015, having briefly taken charge of them following Amara Traoré’s sacking, in a caretaker role in 2012.

He was also the assistant coach of the under-23 side from 2012 to 2013, becoming head coach from 2013 to 2015.
