Stade Rennais defender and Ghanaian international Alidu Seidu has undergone successful surgery following a ruptured cruciate ligament sustained during a match against LOSC Lille.

The club confirmed the development in a statement, expressing their support for the player:

“Victim of a ruptured cruciate ligament in his knee during the match against LOSC, our Ghanaian international will now be able to concentrate on his rehabilitation and re-athleticisation. Strength to you, Alidu,” the statement read.

Seidu’s injury rules him out for the remainder of the season, a significant setback for both Stade Rennais and the Black Stars. He will also miss Ghana’s crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers in March next year, where the team faces Chad and Madagascar.

The 23-year-old took to social media to share an update and express gratitude following the procedure.

“My surgery went very well! Now to rehab. I’m going to work hard with the help of my people to get back on the field as soon as possible. Thank you everyone for your messages and support—it means a lot,” Seidu wrote, accompanied by a photo post-surgery.
