Albert Amoah Praises Chemistry with Kwame Opoku After FA Cup Heroics
Asante Kotoko striker Albert Amoah has lauded his growing partnership with fellow forward Kwame Opoku, following his match-winning performance against Berekum Chelsea in the FA Cup semi-final on Sunday.
Amoah emerged the hero for the Porcupine Warriors after scoring the only goal of the match to seal a 1-0 victory and book Kotoko’s place in the final against lower-tier side Golden Kick.
The goal, a well-timed header from a Baba Yahaya cross, was Amoah’s eighth strike of the season and a testament to his impressive form.
Speaking after the game, Amoah reflected on the development of his on-field chemistry with Opoku, which he believes is now yielding results for the team.
“We’ve learned to play to our strengths,” Amoah said. “I always know where Kwame is positioned when we’re on the attack. It wasn’t like that at first—we didn’t connect well. But now, there’s a strong understanding between us.”
The former Great Olympics striker revealed that the improved partnership has been influenced by guidance from the technical team and support from fans.
“The coaches and even our fans have spoken to us about our partnership, and that’s really helped us improve how we play together,” he added.
The win puts Kotoko in a strong position to end the season with silverware. But before then, attention shifts back to the Ghana Premier League, where they face a tricky away test against Dreams FC on Sunday in their Matchday 31 encounter at the Tuba Astro Turf.
