AFCON QUALIFIERS: Sheriff Tiraspol defender Patrick Kpozo earns call-up for Ghana’s AFCON clash against Angola

Moldova-based defender Patrick Kpozo has earned national team call-up for Ghana’s upcoming Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Angola later this month. 

The 25-year-old defender who has been phenomenal for Sheriff Tiraspol making close to 23 appearance in all competitions this season including 6 Europa League matches has secured his debut Black Stars call-up.

In Chris Hughton 25-man squad, he could not snub the left-back but to invite him for double-header encounter against Angola. Ghana will play Angola in Kumasi on March 23, 2023 before travelling to Luanda for the reverse fixture three days later at the Estadio de 11 Novem­bro at 17H00. 

Kpozo was invited alongside Gideon Mensah of Auxerre to beat Angola for qualification.

Ghana are top of Group E with 4 points following a 3-0 win over Madagascar and a 1-1 draw against Central African Republic.
