Accra Lions FC confirm transfer of duo to Chinese club Shanghai Jiading
Ghana Premier League side Accra Lions have transferred two of their players to Chinese club Shanghai Jiading.
Accra Lions have agreed contract terms with the Chinese club for their striker Fredrick Asante and defender Jacob Amu Mensah on Monday.
The duo sign for the Chinese second-tier side on an undisclosed amount but on a long-term.
“We are pleased to announce the transfers of striker Fredrick Asante and defender Jacob Amu Mensah to Chinese second-tier club Shanghai Jiading,” Accra Lions announced in a statement on Facebook.
Fredrick Asante and Jacob Amu Mensah have been intergral members of the Accra Lions since the team secured promotion to the betPawa Premier League in 2021.
General Manager of the team, Ishmael Hamidu thanked the two for their services to the club but acknowledged that their services will be missed sorely in the remainder of what has so far been a fruitful Premier League season.
“Both players contributed a lot to the success of our club, they deserve a chance for greener pastures even though we know that we will miss them sorely in the rest of our Ghana Premier League campaign!,” Ishmael Hamidu said.
Fredrick Asante and Jacob Amu Mensah having been considered with high prospect are expected to have positive impact with Shanghai Jiading.
