2022 CHAN: Black Galaxies settle discourse with Al Ahly brilliantly
As part of preparations ahead of 2022 TotalEnergies Africa Nations Championship in Algeria, Ghana’s Black Galaxies took on Egyptian giant’s Al Ahly in a friendly.
The encounter which was played on Saturday in Cairo, had Ghana beat Al Ahly in a four goal thriller. Ghana recorded a deserving 3-1 victory over the reserve side of Egyptian giant’s.
The win was Black Galaxies second straight win of their preparation after arriving in Egypt.
Ghana humbled Egypt U-20 team 2-0 on Tuesday in Egypt.
In-form Daniel Afriyie Barnieh gave Black Galaxies the lead against Al Ahly from the spot kick before Great Olympics duo Solomon Adomako and Abdul Razak Yussif scored each to cement their side victory.
Despite, Al Ahly reducing the deficit could not mount severe pressure on Annor Walker’s side as it all ended 3-1 in Cairo.
Ghana will continue their preparations with test matches before they jet off to Algeria in the first week of January.
Ghana will be aiming for their first CHAN title having lost the final twice to Libya on penalties in 2014 and a disappointing 2-0 defeat to Dr Congo in 2009
The 7th edition of the CHAN competition will kick off from January 13-4 February, 2023 in four cities where Ghana will face a tough task in Group C alongside Morocco, Sudan and Madagascar.
